What to Wear at 20 Degrees Celsius: Your Mid-Season Style Guide

How cold is 20 degrees Celsius? Is 20 degrees warm enough for short hemlines and bare arms? This feels like a good question to ask, especially since our weather app often warns us of those classic almost-summer-but-not-yet weeks. You know the type—sunshine mixed with clouds. And as if the weather itself isn't problematic enough, the app isn't the most reliable source either. Hence, figuring out what to wear can be a bit tricky in these temperatures. Should you throw on a jacket? Are sandals a viable option? Yet when the temperature dips slightly, should you reach for a trench coat and trainers? And let’s not forget the ever-present chance of rain, which turns into a game of sweat or water.

Clearly, this scenario opens up a lot of style dilemmas, which is why we’ve set out to gather some of the best 20-degree-weather outfit ideas. We’ve put together ten looks that will help you navigate those uncertain days when the weather isn't quite predictable.

Blazer and shorts

What should I wear today, weather-wise? How often do we ask this question one month before and after summer? And probably during the summer as well, right? It seems to be the most challenging time of the year, especially if you have to spend the whole day outside. A blazer and shorts make for an excellent option for midday, when the sun is out, of course. Works well, because you can always take off the blazer and enjoy the warmth without overheating.

Throw the Oversized suit blazer from Beige Brown over a t-shirt, then pair it with Agolde’s Loose shorts for a stylish combo. If the weather isn't quite there yet, add boots to the look. But if you feel like your feet could do with some sunshine, go for your fave sandal.

Vest and pants

70-degree weather outfits often balance around coverage—if you want to expose your arms, you cover your legs, and vice versa. Knitted vests are great for this temperature, as they retain warmth and allow your skin to breathe at the same time. Rare and very convenient feature. And if you don’t feel like wearing a vest on its own, add a shirt underneath.

Avoid thick and heavy knits—choose something light and roomy, like the Knit cotton vest by Erika Cavallini. Pair it with the Logo waistband straight trousers for the smart-casual appeal, or—basic jeans for daily wear.

Sweatshirt and baggy jeans

To maximize versatility, wear a lightweight layer, like a tee or tank, underneath the sweatshirt. And if needed, a sweatshirt can be taken off and tied around your waist or shoulders. The jeans also act as a shield against any chilly breezes, while the closed-toe mules allow for a smooth transition into sandal season.

Some 60-degree weather outfits are as easy as that—the Stitch-trim sweatshirt by Aeronautica Militare, the Relaxed baggy jeans from Citizens of Humanity, a pair of mules, a tote, and you are ready for any errands the day is about to bring you.

Light jacket and skirt

How hot is 20 degrees Celsius? Enough to ditch all your jackets? Not quite; you will need them when the clouds are taking over the sky and the rains are pouring. Choose your hero here—can be a denim jacket, bomber, varsity style, leather piece, even a quilted one. Pick the jacket depending on the style you are after, certainly, but also—on the weather conditions you have to conquer. The rainier the climate is, the more protective your outer layer should be.

The Quilted bomber jacket from Moose Knuckles combines water-repellent features with the stylish look of a bomber jacket—an excellent choice for cool evenings and early mornings in summer. To elevate it a bit, pair it with the Tailored maxi skirt from Beige Brown and kitten heels for a chic finish.

Cardigan and trousers

What to wear in 60-degree weather when you want to look polished but without any formal connotation? Trousers are versatile, trousers can stay, but how about the top part? The best possible option is a cardigan—lightweight, maybe even cropped. Need more layers? Wear a tank top underneath.

We styled the Pointelle cardigan with the Wide suit trousers from House of Dagmar in a soft ivory shade. This combo is ideal when the sun is out, and you want to look put-together and feel comfy.

Raincoat

And if it’s raining heavily? How to dress in 60-degree weather when the rain is non-stop but you still want to look chic? The answer is a raincoat—a traditional yellow one, a minimalist one, or a short trench—the most important part is in the water-repellent material. And underneath it could be a dress, a matching set, a tailored suit—literally anything you would wear without a raincoat when it’s 60 degrees outside.

We love the Short trench coat from Tiger of Sweden for its classic trench look with a modern twist. Let’s throw it over the black set from House of Dagmar, featuring the Sleeveless crepe top and the Fluid crepe trousers, for a minimalist outfit that’s ready for any shower.

Blouse and straight jeans

How to dress in 70-degree weather when you don’t have a lot of time for styling? When in doubt, a floral blouse and jeans combo will never fail you. The blouse's romantic style will contrast nicely with a slouchier pair of casual jeans, and sandals will finish off the look. Simply throw on a jacket or a trench on breezier days.

Check out the Floral printed linen blouse from 120% Lino—perfect spring-summer staple for sunny days. Team it with the Wide straight jeans from Citizens of Humanity for a fashion-forward white ensemble that’s extremely easy to pull together.

Knit and mini skirt

A miniskirt is just the thing to slip into on a 70-degree day. But you may want to save your midriff-baring crop tops for those toasty summer days. Instead, we’d suggest a long-sleeve tee or a knit—we’ll let you pick the design. Finally, opt for a pair of on-trend ballet flats or loafers.

The Fringed mini skirt by Lisa Yang is a lovely piece to style on a warm day when you feel a bit flirty. Pair it with the Brushed cardigan top from House of Dagmar for a playful knit combo, and add a varsity jacket if the weather calls for more layers.

Athleisure set

An athleisure set is such an easy base because you're comfy, and you're ready for a day full of activities. You can easily make this spring 60-degree outfit go from the gym to brunch. But if you want to make this feel styled without doing too much, just throw on a long trench and grab a structured bag.

Take a look at sweatsuits by Aeronautica Militare, such as the Logo-pattern sweatshirt with the High-waist tapered sweatpants. Featuring all the pros of comfy sportswear, the set also looks refined enough for casual strolls around the city and coffee with friends.

Long-sleeved dress

An easy thrown-on dress that you can style with any choice of footwear will serve you well, no matter the time of year. And if you are wondering what to wear in 70-degree weather with no extra effort, you’ve just found an answer. Choose a long-sleeved, lightweight dress—could be midi or maxi—and the whole outfit is ready—just add a pair of matching shoes and minimalist accessories.

The Shape-neck knit dress from Tiger of Sweden in black is your best bet—elegant and versatile, it will change the look depending on what you pair it with. We styled it with Hereu’s Woven sandals for when the sun is out and there is no need to hide your feet in clumsy boots.
